Re: Caterpillar C8.7 temperature query

It seems like the load is higher on port side. It shows 100% but is that correct? How are the exhaust gas temps and turbo pressure? How are the turbo filters and air supply? Also when was temp sensor calibrated last?

Yeah is the rate 660 per day for a single day ? And you get same home? Making it 1320. Or is it 1000 for a double day? I guess the recruiting firm needs a cut but 320 a day is a big cut?

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem

Hi,

Is the pt 4 the pressure from the feed pump? If so check your suction strainer make sure the feed/booster pump is giving the right pressure all all valves set right? Problems with the pump maybe dirty pressure regulating valve or worn pump?

Please let us know if you find the issue.

Regards

Sad to hear this I took most of my exams for him when I got my canadian ticket. I did mention his accent when I did my orals and he said he doesn’t have an accent everybody else does. A great guy that tired to help you pass not trying to fail you. RIP

How is the temps recorded? Local or remote. Check that it’s showing the true temp. What fuel are you running on?

Did you clean the cooler. Check the running hours too? is it constantly running or shutting down after unloading you can check the settings. What’s the ambient temperature in the space. Check the manual for fault racing? Check belts and if the fan is running ok.

Re: Engine Explosion

Interesting article, short turnaround ? use of the cheapest contractor? no time for crew to overseeing the work? I also find that most maintenance system follows the location not the part. For example piston cylinder #1 but if you take that piston out put an overhauled piston in what’s the history o...

Re: Alfa Laval 615 Purifier

Hi,

I would start by checking the water supply, Check pressure, strainers and timing of the valves. Check the manual for fault tracing.

Re: Windlass not taking load on my ship, ideas to fix it

Is there any plugs to air it out? Check the manual for procedure to air it out. Check the relief valves on your control block if any? Is the brake releasing proper?

Good luck and regards

How is the pressure sensor mounted could it be dirty or the pipes going to it? Did you check that you have the right flow rate/pressure on the water.

Re: Alfa Laval PU150 problem

Check the water valves and the water pressure, also air pressure for the 3 way valve. does it have nozzles in bowl? Change them out. Is the electrical motor frequency controlled? There could be issues there.

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem

Hi,

Is it belt driven? Check the clutch pads and the surfaces for the pads, belt tension is also important. If it slips the bowl speed drops. Check the manual for number of pads to be used it can differ dependent of what set up you have.

Re: Dirty/brown/orange colour cooling water

Maybe take a sample of the water you are using and mix it with coolant and let it sit to see if it gets discoloured. Look into the chemical you are using is it the right type for the material used in the engine cooling system.

Maybe they didn’t fill out the right checklist? Try arrival departure and DP checklist?
