LO consumption high Wartsila 46 Engine
Hi,
I am Jahirul. In recent treads we found that LO consumption is high on Wartsila 46 engine compared to previous. Present consumption is 0.95 gm/kwh where as previous it was 0.65 gm/kwh. We checked the separator. Its okay. What checking should be done on engine side?

Re: GEA Westfalia OSE 80- 0136_ Bowl leaking
Hi Big Pete, At first I am sorry for very late reply. You got the real picture. We recollect the fuel oil same way you described. We do all the changeovers by manual valve and diaphragm pumps. Our LO purifiers are working excellent. We faced the problem for only HFO purifiers. No, shortening de slud...

Re: Problem with separator OSD-2 - Westfalia
Hi, Few days back we faced same problem. OSE 20 Westfalia separator. Used for separation of engine oil Mobil M-440 (SAE 40). Oil was leaking through water outlet line. The reason was inappropriate separation temp. Heat exchangers was not able to raise required separation temp 95 degC. As a result in...

Re: GEA Westfalia OSE 80- 0136_ Bowl leaking
Hi.
Sorry to say that we have tried to solve by all possible ways. But problem is still on. As an alternating solution we are collecting sludge and leakage oil in a tank and trying to recover oil by gravity separation and again sending to the separator for further treatment.
Thanks

Re: GEA Westfalia OSE 80- 0136_ Bowl leaking
Hi Jahirul, How does the sludge monitoring system know that the sludge space is full? Is it working, as I suggested earlier, by detecting water in the oil discharge line? Purifiers using this system do not have Gravity discs, but as soon as the sludge space is full, water will be discharged and thi...

Re: GEA Westfalia OSE 80- 0136_ Bowl leaking
="Big Pete You say that the Separator is running as a Clarifier, this is very unusual these days. Many, many years ago it was common to put fuel through a clarifier to remove the water and then a purifier to remove the dirt. However, for the last 40 years or so the makers have preferred runnin...

Re: GEA Westfalia OSE 80- 0136_ Bowl leaking
Hi, Opening and closing enter into the bowl via same hose. At present setting closing water pulse is 0.1 sec with 300 sec interval. That means after every 300 sec closing water enters into the bowl for 0.1 sec. I have checked by increasing the pulse length from 0.1 to 0.4 sec. Result is same. I am w...

Re: GEA Westfalia OSE 80- 0136_ Bowl leaking
That O ring should be in place. Dear Sir, We fitted the O ring in its place (groove). Actually when we noticed the problem, we overhauled the complete bowl by GEA original spare parts. The separator is running smoothly without showing any alarm. But when we inspected through sludge inspecting port ...

Re: GEA Westfalia OSE 80- 0136_ Bowl leaking
Checked the gravity disc internal diameter? There's a graph in the manual which will show the correct one to use. Dear Sir, Thanks for your feedback. Please note that, I found the separator is working in a clarifier mode. No gravity disc is installed, Please find the attached picture, taken from ma...
