Re: 2018 June - Fatigue in Transportation Forum, Montreal

This looks very interesting. I read an article how fatigue also affects fuel consumption rates a couple of months ago. It would all be that lack of judgement I guess.

comment from one of “them” groups

To read posts that refer to other groups that aren’t the preferred one, one that I just happen to be one of, as”them” is not a pleasant experience. One I never expected to see here In 40 years of my work as an engineer, I have had many, very unpleasant work experiences, where my “ group” was not want...

Re: TC SSB

We'll have to see about that Martin, TCMS head honcho has just retired. Speaking of which, my retirement "do" will be in Celtic Corner, Dartmouth, next Thursday (26th) at 12. Last time I attended a TC retirement, which we did routinely as a professional courtesy, I was definitely personae...

Re: To the cowards that moderate this forum...

I deleted your original topic after answering the posts and letting it stand for over a day. The mere fact that you say it has ample support from everyone is a sham, as you only had one response from someone as......I will use the word misguided, as yourself. The fact you refer to me as a coward is ...

Ausie icebreaker

Even if this goes over budget to $500 million, this is fairly cheap. Now I wonder what the actual build will be lik.

Another davit/rescue boat incident

Over the years, I’ve read so many articles about davit accidents with crew hurt and killed, I can just shake my head. Killing lifesaving devices.

LOL, I've read that in the comments on FB.

Mark them off as as a cruise company to never sail on, along with all of the rest.

Re: El Faro letter to NTSB

Martin, those guys wouldn't have gotten off the ship IMO. The boats tell me that the davits were old rule, they wouldn't been able to launch with the list. Maybe not with modern davits either, they would have been in liferafts. When we go to sea, we accept risks that are unacceptable in any other in...

MSC hits dock at speed

Anchor was dropped......I wonder if his telegraphs locked up. I had a ship that would happen to at unrepeatable intervals , a glitch in the system. We finally tracked it down.

Re: El Faro letter to NTSB

As soon as I see open lifeboats on a ship like this, it pretty well says all about the company and regs to me. It was going back to work in the north, came from Alaska before this, but they never spent the million $ to give them a closed boat on a modern gravity davit, and not expected to by Class o...

PSC future

Do you think this is pie in the sky thinking or the next step in a collaboration to safety?
