Re: Suicide and sea

Doing my time1960-65 there was a song in the hit parade which everyone in the engineroom would chant all day.
" Fings ain't what they used to be"
How prophetic some 50 years plus ago with what BP is saying.

Re: Top Heavy Tupperware Dishes

Converted a PPI indicator the other day to track this top heavy Tupperware dish, Anthem of the Seas, took out the sea clutter and the rain clutter controls and made up an anti bullshit gain controls and cost/ delay timings control feature. The antibullshit gain control was found to be such a large c...

Re: Train boiler explosion

I can well remember " floating/ resetting " the boiler pressure relief valve as a boy assisting the chargehand who always carried out this task. Strip the valve/spring locknuts assemblies and carefully examine both seating faces. Sometimes if the marks in the housing would not grind out it...

I have written here previously about stripping out the purifier plates and hearing the manhole cover strongback nuts being flogge...

Re: Ouch!

How's about one engines turbo bearings kaput,it's running on its own engine oil, shutting the fuel off will do nothing at all and it's revving well over its governed rpm?
Totally out of control situation.

However I have to say that using a five gas exhaust analyser machine a lot we sometimes nowadays struggle to get an updated smokemeter reading at all. It has been for 3/4 years...
