Re: Engine Room Resource management course

Both courses you mention are the same genre, the first is at "operational" level and the second "management" level. I guess they could be called Leadership 1 and Leadership 2, both designed to extract more money from Engineers wishing to advance. See how much the course is in Pak...

Re: Engine Room Resource management course

I'm sure that the college in Owen Sound has a leadership and management course, call them and see. Does your assessment letter exempt you from any Examinations? Since November 2017, you'll need Applied Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Electrotechnology and Navel Arc. for 4th Class. See Ship Safety Bulleti...

Re: Taxes

Medicals and renewals can be done at the Canadian Embassy in the country of residence. You have to get in touch with AMSPE, 330 Sparks St, Ottawa. Phone number is in the book, postal code and full address are in TP 2293 and in the MPRs (I think, but TP 229 for sure)

Re: CoC as per STCW 2010 Manila Convention

Re: Merlyn Birthday

My missus strongly objects to a hubby a couple of years older than her son, and 15 years younger than his own eldest! As for retirement, Merlyn, I retired in 2003 when I came to TC, no more 12-18 hour days, work 5 days a week, not 7, every weekend off, sleep in my own bed every night, I get days off...

Re: CoC as per STCW 2010 Manila Convention

I apprenticed as an Engine Fitter before I became a Marine Engineer. When I came to Canada, I challenged Exams for Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Millwright and Power (Stationery) Engineer, got the lot. So a basis in Marine Engineering is a solid base for other Trades.

Re: Taxes

Non resident is the only way to go. If you have dual Can/UK citizenship, inform the UK taxman you are resident in UK. You will come under the Merchant Shipping Act and if you are 181 days out of UK you won't pay UK tax. Inform CRA you are no longer resident in Canada, show them the letter from UK ta...
