Re: FPSO Experience
I haven't worked on an FPSO myself but I do know that Canship is operating one out of Newfoundland. They were trying to hire a First Class engineer as a 'Marine Technician' sometime back. You could contact them directly for more info.

Re: Foreign tanker companies
Hi Madzng, I had filled out the online application for BP and received an aknowledgement from them but nothing else. They are looking to hire C/Es with experience to sail as 2/Es. I don't know if there's any scope for a promotion in the near future or what the terms are. How many C/Es would be willi...

Re: Foreign tanker companies
Thanks for the replies. Conrod - I had filled out the application for Shell months ago but never heard from them. I sent my resume to the other companies you mentioned but haven't heard from them yet. Anyway, my search goes on, if you have any more info re. companies hiring with their contact detail...

Re: Foreign tanker companies
Thanks for the replies. I checked with Algoma, Desgagnes, Coastal and GCM 2-3 months ago, they didn't need C/Es. I haven't checked with Canship as I had turned down a job offer a couple of years ago and they might not make another one. I did some work with Rigel but the pay is not competitive. I've ...

Re: Foreign tanker companies
Thanks Alonocean. I checked with Norbulk a couple of months ago, they didn't need a Chief. They were looking for a 2/E at that time though. I have never worked on a tug before and not really interested in that. Not a lot of Canadian tanker companies around and none hiring at the moment hence the int...

Re: Chief Engineer wages
Thanks for the input Martin. You wrote "I believe the Guild contract is very similar in wages to our US counterparts (maybe someone could comment), but I have heard of better money for chief's overseas (20-25k/month), especially in Scandinavian countries - mind you these are usually time on boa...

Re: Chief Engineer wages
Thanks Joukov1 and Martin. Well, Joukov1 doesn't make it very appealing to work for ULS, Algoma or Desgagnes does he? Well, anyone else got any ideas? Good employer, good wages, good working conditions? I'm running outta companies I can work for! Thanks in advance.

Re: Chief Engineer wages
Thanks Sebastian. Any idea if Desgagnes is looking for C/Es? I see they have a new tanker 'Sarah Desgagnes', it would be interesting to sail on that vessel. Whats her trading route? Any idea?

What's this 2 year contract about? Wouldn't it just be a permanent position? Thanks.

Chief Engineer wages
Hi,
Wondering what the wages are for a Chief Engineer on the lakes. Also the rotation system. I have a First Class licence with experience as Chief. Would appreciate any info on companies like Upper Lakes, Algoma, Desgagnes, etc. Thanks in advance.
