Re: CoC as per STCW 2010 Manila Convention
Just went to the TC web site to refresh my memory on the details in the section 144 of the MPR listed in the SSB and the link to the MPR is dead!

Re: There's that navy humidity reasoning again
But where do they use Rohr threads? BP I don't know about Rohr thread but I do know about where Whitworth threads are used  BP I understand what you are saying about issues with drainage systems on A/C Systems. After thinking about it for a while I'm inclined to believe that part of the issue ...

Re: There's that navy humidity reasoning again
Problems, problems, if the believe inadequate air con is too blame and they want to run the ships longer, why don't they just fix the air con? Mad World, Military procurement. I have just read the article (link below) about the Royal Navy cannibalising spares from one ship to another and how it act...

Re: Irving looking for Engineering Cadets
Education Required: Currently enrolled in a related Bachelor’s Degree program, and in good academic standing I think they are going to have a hard time finding cadets that meets this requirement. I may be wrong but I can't think of any Marine Cadet program in Canada, outside the Coast Guard College...

Re: What to Do ? Fire on the ship while in port.

Re: Wireless Shore Power
When it comes to mooring the ship and keeping it in position with the connection. The dock could be fitted with a system that uses vacuum chambers to hold the ship in position similar to what is currently being used in the St. Lawerence Seaway as part of the their Hands & Mooring line Free syste...

Re: Engine performance in varying ambient temperatures
One particular calculation that can sometimes tell a lot with respecet to propeller and mechanical effiency in a wide variety of air and water temperature conditions is Propeller Slip. Slip is the difference the theoretical speed the propeller is capable of producing at a given pitch, or the distanc...

Re: New Examination Process
Revolver, nobody hates safety for seafarers, Companies are a bit averse to paying for it, that's all. Seafarers always have been, and always will be, disposable. YOU just have to make sure you aren't one of them. That's why there are Safety Committees run and operated by the crew. Employers, ie, on...

Re: Preventing Engine Failures
I wonder if now that P&I Clubs are finally beginning to take enough notice to the point writing a directive outlining the basics of engineering principles will change the attitudes of ship owners and operators. I guess the P&I clubs are hoping that what is becoming more apparent, with this a...

Preventing Engine Failures
I wonder how many of the failures discussed in this forum and others like it can be boiled down to the simple failure to follow, what some would consider hard and fast rules, listed as reccomendations in this article.
