Re: Canada's shipbuilding capability
The Canadian shipbuilding industry really was devastated by the government's decision to pay down the deficit. The last major shipbuilding of any kind was in the 80's with the frigate program, the very capable CCG medium icebreaking class and the Henry Larsen. When CG was taken out of Transport Cana...

Careers at Sea & Beyond
Often I get asked what is the next step in a sea going career, or people get injured and can't continue at sea. This is a nice flow chart showing options after you are done with the sea going part of your life. By clicking on each box you can read the description. Sometimes people can be merely comp...

For Sale: Theodore
I will fully admit, I am totally clueless, without pulling out the rules, regarding requirements for a 20 year survey on a weird little craft like this designed to haul people around. The mere fact they are talking static services such as a restaurant probably means she won't pass without a huge amo...

Bonnehome Richard Fire
I'm sure that anyone that is an admiral is clueless on heat affected steel and aluminum, never mind steel that water has been sprayed on for days. The Bonhomme Richard, whose size ranks second in the U.S. Navy fleet to that of an aircraft carrier, sustained severe damage from the flames, leaving the...
