I used the engineroom manual for the pneumatic system to learn about the symbols and such. They have a full description of the system operation, drawings and troubleshooting.
Not much help I know, but if you are not getting anything from Google, I've not really seen anything on pneumatics.

I haven't started one of them in 18 years. The only thing different that I remember, was you had to hand crank the cylinder lubricators before blowing through. Everything else was as any other marine engine.

I was just looking at a staffing poster for Transport Canada Marine-they are looking for 30 inspectors. Same issue as everyone else with an aging workforce.

If you are doing an engine job and need some sort of special tool, it should be part of the engines inventory. Have you checked with the engine manufacturer?
