Re: Fault Finding

Big Pete, if that is the trouble shooting being employed by the other engineers, I hope you never have any major issues.
A missing Oring is basic and would have been picked up immediately if they had looked at the purifier again.
Pretty darn scarey

Re: Fault Finding

I would shut off all of the automatics functions and run the purifier manually and see if it was correctly reassembled, then I would open it and check the slide bowl. If I remember the Westfalias correctly there where teflon nozzles fitted in the bowl bottoms that needed to be replaced for proper op...

Re: Fault Finding

Interesting that they immediately jumped at the hydrophore pump as the cause even though 2 other purifiers are working correctly and presumably the rebuilt purifier worked before the work.
Westfalia has a very good trouble shooting section in their manual. I would assume Mitsibishi does as well.

Re: Another second class motor question

Heavy duty stops to prevent the quadrant from jumping off the track if the steam engine failed to reverse. Difficult to explain, because I have to remember how it was constructed since it is over 25 years.

You know the sad part of reading Diesel Dames question was knowing that I had actually have used the lead instead of the Plastigauge
But retirement is still so far away.

I suspect someone, in the past had run the engines dry and not recorded it
Or maybe drained the engine immediately after shut down to repair something?

Excellent posts Big Pete, I wish you had been at my elbow while I was studying!!

Re: 4th Class Orals

Crap, I just lost my whole post due to a finger malfunction. Basically, during the written exam keep track of where you seemed weak and brush up on those areas before the orals. Remember safety, as has been pointed out. When you get into the exam type questions in the higher tickets, make a p...
