Re: New engine

Andrew, Maybe you ought to do more research re the family tree re Robert Boyle concerning your ancestry because these ideas of yours have to come from somewhere and I feel as yours are mainly steam powered this could most likely be the route for you to take. Had your prefered fueling been diesel the...

Re: New engine

I reckon you could be trying to set me up here Andrew ‘cause you live in a flat. Dig back thro’ your family tree, you never know Robert Boyle might be a very long lost uncle to you and this could be the route cause to your inventions maybe? Either that or you could have drunk out of the same beer gl...

Hate to spoil your day Andrew but this bloke thought of this back along in 1662 and I learnt this in 1960.
Yes it’s PV/T equalling C again.
First law I was to learn.
Thought I would save it for Monday for you to make your day.

Re: New engine

Well Andrew I know as my name is Merlyn and as such I am constantly being told that being some sort of Wizard I ought to be able to see insides of engines and the likes in order to locate that follower rattle/whatever without dismantling but I still can't see inside that heat exchanger. We need for ...

Re: New engine

Well Andrew that two piece device of yours with two halves bolted together looks like a small LP heat exchanger with two in and two out. Whats the wiring for exactly? What exactly does it do? How does it function? Whats inside the two halves? Some sort of radiator/tube stack device? Split it and let...

Re: New engine

Well from where I am sitting and giving this latest project serious thought my contribution would be to have only one cube of ice in the old G&T instead of the normal two. So if Andrew could get up a petition to encourage others to follow suit perhaps on a health and safety basis a Titanic repea...

Re: New engine

Andrew,
I think you would be better off perfecting the diesel driven deck cloth than all this ice idea.
After all it only melts at the end of the day whether it be AC or DC single or three phase.

Re: Injector body lapping

Back to the sixties when I started a five year apprenticeship in Marine Engineering one of the first jobs you were taught was overhauling pumps and injectors. This was interesting stuff but after twenty or so of doing them they became a bit of a ball ache to do as they became rather repetitive and y...

Re: Question regarding overhaul of main propulsion on RoRo ferry

Folk over here think my old bearing scraper is for cleaning head faces off, everyone talks of crank reground sizes in M.M. ( Mickey Mouse to me ) and with the passage of time have never heard of feet and inches. Sometimes I feel like an Alien in my own country. Still maintain we had the best of it a...

Re: Question regarding overhaul of main propulsion on RoRo ferry

That old song “ Things ain’t what they used to be “ is true big time over here. Cock up jobs abound. Lack of staff able to do the job, lack of skills more so than ever. No pride in the job any more. Best blokes sadly gone. Can’t even get a waiter over here. The only way is down and down. Glad I’m up...
