New ship departs FSG for Canada. Built for Oceanex. Looks pretty nice. This is the same shipyard that constructed four ships for BC Ferries Inc.

Funny, BC Ferries has over 65 elevators and escalators on board their ships and in the terminals. They even have a manager that looks after the service and repair of all of them but also new upgrades and new construction..........

It is a "diffuser" in the event of a fire. It delays the time to breach the fuel system in the event of a fire in the space.

What a terrible, terrible accident. My heart goes out to the families of these marine professionals that perished. I had an experience similiar to this with a older MTU engine that had a water cooled exhaust manifold and the water only leaked into the engine when the engine was at operating temperature and running. Somehow the damage opened up When warmed and "pumped" water in. Took a long time to find...
