Re: Allure of the Seas Bearing Change

Windings appeared to be dry. Noticed it was a unit change and not just the bearing on its own. Speed up the turnaround and back in the water quicker. See the ship is in trouble again with "propulsion problems " and running at reduced speeds. Booked back in the same dry dock again. See a lo...

Re: Common Rail Engine 48/60 cr

Further pondering this subject anyone stripped injectors HP pumps etc to suss out the EXACT cause of failure? I.e. Scoring , nozzle condition, pump bearings/ valves etc? Sensor windings, resistances etc within spec? Obviously in the fuel system any spalling from HP pumps areas would possibly write o...

Re: Allure of the Seas Bearing Change

Different I have to say. Interesting to note that in the age of high technology the Cofferdams were bare metal and most of the chainblock operations shown were handraulic and not electric. But the million dollar question that needs answering remains unsolved. How much and who paid. The roller race m...

Re: Battery Technology

Over here some batteries are £10,000 plus, nobody bought any vehicles so now you buy the hybrid car and lease the battery. Weird or what. Went on a CR course touching on hybrids and was told putting your pinkies between a battery terminal and nearby spanner could cause you to have your pinkie sheare...

Re: USS Indianapolis wreck discovered

Bet it will be played down big time like our lot over here. It was only a Loc Tite jobby. It was due to come in for a major refit/ update anyway. As a result of coming in for the above it will now run on for X more years thus saving the tax payers millions. The new modifications due were lifesaving ...

Re: Common Rail Engine 48/60 cr

Dave W's comments re research concerning truck engines and marine engines running on LFO brings to mind experiences I have encountered with same. Where I am at we also in addition to Marine Engineering repairs undertake truck repairs from 44 ton artics down. We have workshops capable of taking artic...

Re: Common Rail Engine 48/60 cr

I think personally BP and Atlantic's comments re fuel contamination / missfuelling could well be where the problem originates from. I have experienced horrendous CR problems over the inability of the lubricant in the fueloil to prevent/ delay the advanced wear on pumps and injectors owing to the dil...
