I must admit, at this point I don't have the desire to sail as chief when I have my 3rds (at this point, who knows in a years time heh); however when I get some spare time and find a spare $1600 I will try to knock out the PPS 2 - that never expires, correct?

V-16 cummins used as the prime mover for a compass thruster. Taken during the unveiling process of the...hiccup...we had early in the morning. It was certainly a learning experience as a cadet. I learned pearlite or close grained grey cast iron makes a nice metal dust when smashed up... Picture 266....

Thanks for that little note, store that in the mental file cabinet. After all, only ~450 more sea days until it's time to write my 2nds, so the count down to PPS 2 and that is on heh

I have a buddy who worked as a ERO for them for about 1.5 years on one rig off NL.
And a fellow graduate was hired as a Oiler on a different rig.

Seems basic for sure, and yes, for new engineers (like myself) it is important to be diligent. In the process of going from Superior to Quebec (seaway now) and I must say, compared to last year the weather is grand so far.
Was in Quebec last on the 4th-5th and it wasn't bad, though I'm sure there is going to be a lot of difference when we get there in 2 days.
