Re: Chaulk Determination/Commodore Straits
Thats what I would call a sure bet. When I left that junkpile it was under arrest for not paying their port fees and it was obvious the project was being run by idiots that did not have a clue as to what they were doing. All I heard for the week I was there was "take it apart" "take i...

Re: Hiring all ranks of Marine Engineers for Cruise Ferry in BC
Hi Martin
It will be interesting to see if he even answers you. I'll bet though the government won't do damn thing about it after all they have been trying to kill the marine industry for over 60 years.
Cheers Al

Re: Hiring all ranks of Marine Engineers for Cruise Ferry in BC
As I read this I have to wonder why on earth would I apply for one of these positions when I can get a job with a friend of mine as a labourer for $35.00/hour plus bonuses for working night shift no CoC required either. No doubt the TFW's will get the preferential treatment here from our government ...

Re: Applying for work @ BC Ferries
Well I see Chris Strange and the rest of her "professional HR" people are back at it again trying to hire engineers with 1st & 2nd class CoC's. Just remember they want you to be an oiler and even if you have 30 or more years of experience of being a marine Engineer you will still be co...

Hi
I forwarded your comment to my friends at BCF's. A little public questioning of their practices might wake someone up!!
Cheers Al

Applying for work @ BC Ferries
I just thought I would pass along my recent experience with applying for work at BC Ferries. A few weeks back I met with a C/E friend of mine regarding what it was like to work at the ferries, I have avoided applying for many years but now I thought I would like to settle down a little and now might...

I'd like to take a guess that it's a TMAB 398, I've worked on plently of them. But we will wait and see what it really turns out to be.

Re: Coast Guard positions for already licensed?
It really does not matter which region I was in there is simply no excuse for this treatment to occur. The best part is, is that it's not over yet I finished work back in October and it only took them 4 weeks to pay me for Sept & Oct wow I guess I should be thankful for that but now I would like...

Re: Coast Guard positions for already licensed?
Sorry but I'm afraid I might be being a little misunderstood for my "opinions" but my experience with the CCG was not bad when one looks at it in perspective of sorts. The ships crew were professional to the core the pay was good, the ships are well maintained but when it comes to how the ...

Re: Speed - Power - RPM - Pitch Question
Hi guy's I hate to tell ya this but "Steamboat Al" is the Chief Engineer and Mike in my cadet so I had him answer the other question for the other fellow about his career as for me, well I've been sailing for 32 years and I started out as an oiler/fireman and worked my way up back when you...
