Re: NTCL

Skyhawk, please let me know the brokers website where we can all look at which vessels are for sale. And do you know who Martin Landry is and where did he come from? I read about him in the news quite a bit as a spokesperson for NTCL.
Thanks

Re: Delegation of Inspection Services Canadian Coast Guard

Is this not the most insane thing you have ever heard. This is our tax payers money hard at work by politicians who are proving beyond a shadow of a doubt how ridiculously stupid they can be. I am sure there are many people lining pockets with this one. Utterly fathomless, why not just get rid of TC...

Latest layoffs only temporary, NTCL president says Northern Transportation Company Ltd. president Bill Duffy is reassuring local residents that the shipping company will not be leaving Hay River after concerns resurfaced following last month’s layoffs. “It was a very tough decision,” said Duffy of t...

Re: NTCL

Here is some interesting news about NTCL, http://albertaventure.com/2010/11/norterra-attempts-to-right-the-corporate-ship/ Lots of problems and not many solutions. I understand the eastern operations have been shut down and everyone is gone. The upper management in Hay River have all been given thei...

Re: Seaspan Rumours

From what I have heard, the NTCL vessels Michael Amos, Alex Gordon, Jim Kilabuk and the new 12,000 T barge are all up for sale, as well as their head office in Hay River and a hole bunch of thier land holdings in Hay River. So anything is possible right now with that drifting out of control company....

Re: NTCL

The season is basically over, and I understand it was a shambles again, especially from the east. The Keewatin lost its seaworthiness certificate, the double bottoms were rotted through. This was not a new problem. Arthur brought this up in the late 90's and every year after with no committment from...

Re: Those TV Ships That Flip Over and the Ensuing Fun

Oh yea, I remember that one too. Hilarious!!!! Remember when the guy tried to feed that mooring rope into the prop to hopefully stop the shaft. I laughed and laughed at that one. Oh here is another one, on The Perfect Storm, the guy carrying that piece of plywood, 4 X 8 sheet, up to the wheelhouse w...

While talking about great mariner movies, I recall one called "Virus" with Donald Sutherland making an amazing performance as a wrily old skipper of an ocean tug trying to make a living towing scrap crap. I remember thinking to myself before the movie started that Donald would carry the sh...

Not only ALCO's, but Cleveland EMD 645's will have the same outcome if the rings and liners are mixed up. Do you know how to tell a chromed liner from a non chromed liner? I attended the Cleveland course at Hatch and Kirk many many moons ago and even the instructors sometimes had a hard time telling...

Re: GOM Oiled

I don't think it is quite fair to insinuate the blame for this disaster is all Obama's fault. He inherited so many screw ups from the past retard. I wonder why anyone would want this job, but am certainly feeling safer and better since Obama arrived, and not another set of retards like Bush/Chaney. ...

Re: EMD 645 Blowdown Procedures

We only blew down if the engine was shut down more than 24 hours, just like mentioned earlier. But seeing as there are usually only one engineer on watch nowadays, when you blew over, did you ever wonder what was happening on the side of the engine you could not see? As to leave the IC open or close...

WASHINGTON — BP knew its Macondo well in the Gulf of Mexico was a “nightmare” in the days leading up to its fatal April 20 blowout, congressional investigators said yesterday, but the company “appears to have made multiple decisions for economic reasons that increased the danger of a catastrophic we...

This I just recieved from a friend: [i]Brown, the rig's mechanic, had traveled with the rig from South Korea, where it was made nearly a decade ago. He had seen the mechanical crew get downsized over the years. Yet as the rig aged, the engines began having more problems."It became overwhelming,...

Re: GOM Oiled

Couldn't agree with you more. Watching that 60 minutes show indicated that there was some sort of disagreement between the Rig Master and a BP engineer on how they were going to procede to install the reclamation pipe. Sounds to me like the BP engineers won the argument[?] and the procedure was chan...
