Re: Italy cruise ship Costa Concordia aground near Giglio
I am perplexed at the large hole on the port side but with the vessel lying over on its starboard side. I am thinking that the initial hole was created on the port side and then they steered toward the shore and then holed the vessel on the starboard side. It is quite obvious that that large hole on...

Re: Kenneth Leslie Burrows
It is with sadness I read this. Ken was always a true gentleman with amazing knowledge of his trade. I learned so much working with him on the jobs where we worked together. Heres hoping your next sailing is in the best weather Ken. RIP

Re: Italy cruise ship Costa Concordia aground near Giglio
Have you noticed how fast youtube is removing all the raw videos of the crews shots of the water ingress inside the vessel. As fast as the videos are put up they are being taken down. Have seen some amazing videos of water pouring in through cracks or leaking seals on windows that are 2 stories high...

Re: Polar Icebreaker on the Street
I agree JK, that there will be a large influx of government funds, but we all know that most of that money will go to the Mulronyites of Canada. And the newbuilds they are going to build, what a waste of time. The Arctic patrol vessels are going to be the worst sailing vessels ever built, they have ...

Re: Polar Icebreaker on the Street
The Polar 8, hmmmm. Nice decision. A vessel that will do nothing, but definetly will burn tons and tons of diesel fuel. Great, especially when the governments of today find it perfectly ok to print money for nothing and screw the global markets so bad that anyone with a pension nowadays will probabl...

Re: Smart Ships
It is funny, now reading about how the company office people are going to get and will try and use real time info so as to get the vessels to be more efficient. But over the last 15 years, or maybe the last 10, seems longer but probably isn't, the company I have worked for have had computer tracking...

Hi Skyhawk, Heard rumours that Martin Landry no longer works for NTCL. Cannot confirm. Have just learned that Art Russel is no longer working for Norterra, this is a very ominous and sad realization. Art has been a solid and steadfast individual who was easy to talk to, gave straight answers and cou...

Re: NTCL
Hi Skyhawk I was on the Laurier during the pull off attempt and there were 3 NTCL tugs plus one small American tug chartered out of Barrow. The Alex Gordon, my old vessel the Nunakput and the Pat Lyall. What worked in the end were the lifting tubes under the stricken vessel and ballasting the stern ...

Re: NTCL
Hi Skyhawk, I'm not sure about them being an unauthorized broker, especially when they could easily be sued for putting vessels that are not for sale up for sale. I have written to the VP of Norterra, Art Russel and am waiting to hear back from him but as yet have not heard a peep. Running vessels o...

Thanks skyhawk, found 1 vessel, the Henry Christofferson. Here is the link, http://www.marcon.com/marcon2s.cfm?Sect ... le=TG45153
Seems they want to try and sell her instead of reverting her back to a tug from the siesmic piece of crap it is now.
