TC audits the training to ensure it meets their requirements. The hold up is probably at the provincial level. I ...

Re: YANMAR LIFEBOAT DIESELING/RUN ON
I've only seen this happen when the fuel system was contaminated with coolant and made it to the engine, the water blew the side out of the nozzle. Check your fuel supply with water finding paste and see what shows up.

Re: Stagnant wages
My wages were stagnant for years. Now that I am actually at retirement stage, I got a good raise. The bean counters do not respect the level of knowledge and work goes into getting or certs and keeping ships going.

Re: Captain Andrew J Rae online course
Captain Rae was a longtime fixture in the Halifax area and held the rights to distribute the Reid's books. He did all of the compass swings for the ships in the area. He died a few years back but I think his son has the business. I'm sure the course is fine. I've put a question out to friends and wi...

Canadian Coast Guard to build two heavies
This is great news for both Canada and the CCG. They have been the poor child of the government for 40 years with the last major builds being in the late 60's, 70's and mid 80's. It is welcomed news to see this:

Allan McDonald - Challenger Disaster
It takes great strength and personal integrity to stand up to management. But at the end of the day, you have to live with the outcome of the decision you take, whether it is good or bad outcome. “Under intense political pressure, it’s easy to cave, to say you’ll play ball,” Dr. Maier said. “He didn...
