Re: New engine

Well reading between the lines here Andrew concerning the " I almost lost my life during testing " speech I am fantasising here and my mind is depicting you peering over that front pulley with that top of the range " membership to what tie on " and being drawn mesmerised into try...

Re: New engine

Sounds good Andrew but what exactly is this new method of timing exactly?
For many years the ECU adjusts the timing for Common Rail both petrol and Diesel so how can your method fit in with this?
Is it Redundant?
We talking ignition timing here for petrols only?

Re: Daihatsu 6DC-17 High exhaust temperature

All three exhausting to a common uptake/exhaust? Minor blockage = increased exh. temps? Funny it's common to all three? Law of averages demands all three can't have the same problem so I would look for a common factor linked to all three maybe. Can you measure back pressure without drilling/tapping ...

Re: New engine

All that's very well Andrew but these engines do not lend themselves to ambidextuary moments about a point. That means, for the non believers they run only one way. i.e. The wrong way. So no good for all those folk North of the equator unfortunately for even those engines in the lifeboats there whic...

Re: We are all Doomed (again)

Ha, Omission here methinks? No mention of prop cavitation here, working in the shaft Tunnel for periods of time? (DE V Conventional set ups? ) Or bagging a cabin above a prop and below the steering gear motors etc? And at certain " Critical " rpm that table in your cabin walking again? Wha...

Probably shear the bow off Alex
"Moments about a point"
Unsupported load and distribution of therein methinks.
Very very low psi required here.

Re: Exhaust gas system - Risk of hexavalent chromium residue”

Well that's another one on my horror list. I well remember turning Beryllium in my first apprenticeship year back in 1960 Turned up ten Beryllium valve spindles, never knew who they were for, it was a outside job. They were quite long, about three eights diameter and full of different radius about n...

Re: New engine

Thinking about Venturis I remember well their use age particularly in the sixties. Some of the smaller four and six cylinder diesels were fitted with Venturis in the inlet manifolds. Take off the air cleaner ducting and to one side was the open pipe of the Venturi. In the inlet manifold was a butter...

Re: Exhaust gas system - Risk of hexavalent chromium residue”

You are not off the hook yet JK What about that ball pein hammer? You know the one. That toffee hammer. All that tapping when you were starting out. Klinkerite and all those asbestos steam joints being cut. Asbestos. That bulkhead stop to the main throttle valve cladding on that old up and downer yo...

Re: Exhaust gas system - Risk of hexavalent chromium residue”

Now they tell me.
Conclusion?
After giving the matter serious thought I conclude that I have Chromium plated lungs ( non turbo ) and as such will last forever.
( and a day )
First exhaust 1960 to date.
Still running.

Re: New engine

Fine Andrew but where's the preload inf. here?
Have these blades got inserts fitted?
What's "normal pressure air?"
It can only run one way, i.e. non reversible
We have to remember air pressure varies according to Lat./Long.
What the operation rpm?
So many questions to be answered Andrew.

Re: New engine

Thats all very well Andrew but you haven't committed your answer to the wheel bearing fitment. Where does it go? With all that heat flying around it would have to have H.M.P. grease type fitted. You will have to find a home for it. Don't leave it out in the cold this time of year. New project for yo...
