Any body can advise about marine jobs at BC?

Post by szrad »

Hi,
I am a 3rd engineer who came to Canada 10 month ago, I got my Canadian 4th Class Certificate and I am eligible to do my 3rd class examinations too and actually preparing myself for the 3rd class General.
I would like to find a job at BC Ferries or on board any kind of ferries or tugs or onshore kind of jobs in BC, so I want to know the marine jobs situation in BC.
As I see the job market is not good at all, is that right? or I should think about changing field.

Thanks and best Regards,

I see you already saw my posting on the http://www.dieselduck.ca/forum/viewtopi ... =12&t=1057 thread. Basically same answer to you. With the tugs in BC, things are still quite slow, I think right now there is quite a few retirements on the near horizon, but nobody pulled the plug yet. But on the other hand, there aren't too many jobs on tugs on the west coast.
