Another Scam - Maritime Recruitment Co. Ltd & Travelling Con

Post by EL »

Hi,

We have become aware that there is an individual calling himself Brian Trunkfield, who claims to be the Hiring Manager of a non-existent company called Maritime Recruitment Co. Ltd & Travelling Consultancy Inc.

He has posted an advert for jobs with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines on a jobs board in the UAE (http://gnads4u.com) - claiming to be acting as their authorised agents. An agency fee of $550 is requested during the recruitment process.

To make it look like a legitimate company, this criminal has forged our office address, web site address and registered company number in correspondence. However, they are using the following free e-mail addresses:

[email protected]
[email protected]

They are also using the following free telephone and fax numbers :

Tel: +44 7045-707-362
Fax: +44 7045-707-363

On contacting the company that has supplied them with the above numbers, they have confirmed that both numbers were being diverted to Nigeria. However, on being informed that these numbers were being used to commit a crime, they have both been disconnected.

We have informed Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and the jobs board in the UAE who have taken the vacancy down. However, until such time as the jobs board has a policy of authenticating new clients and refusing to do business with people hiding behind free e-mail accounts, they will continue to be targeted by criminals.

We have also reported this crime to the police.

If anyone has been affected by this crime, please contact us.

To avoid becoming a victim of these advance fee frauds:

* Never deal with a so called 'company' that hides behind free e-mail addresses and telephone numbers
* Never pay any upfront fees. The company is responsible for your travel costs, pre-employment medicals and visas etc. It is also illegal in most parts of the world for agencies to charge you a fee. Their services are paid for by the shipowner.
* Avoid using jobs boards that do not authenticate their clients and allow them to hide behind free e-mail addresses.
* Bear in mind that the 'company' you are dealing with may have copied the addresses, registration numbers, web site addresses and logos of legitimate companies from information that is in the public domain to make themselves look genuine.
* Read the small print of any job offers carefully. Apart from poor grammar and wholly unrealistic salaries for un-skilled positions, these job offers usually include other ridiculous perks - e.g.:

Pet Insurance
And in this case...
'Since one of the Greatest advantage of Royal Caribbean cruise employment is the travel incentives, it gives an opportunity for employees and their family to spend a New Year cruise travel around the world without paying......'

In an unsolicited job offer from another crook, one of the vacancies was for a Lobster!

Remember - If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Here at Marine Recruitment we authenticate all new clients and refuse to do business with so-called 'companies' that hide behind free e-mail addresses. As a result we have been successful in preventing criminals and sub-standard agencies from using our site.

Best regards,

The Team at Marine Recruitment Co. Ltd

I worked in Nigeria for Tidewater (6 month contract, that's why I KNOW I'm going to heaven when I die, I've already done my Hell time) They took care of all travel arrangements, including visa, medicals, vaccinations, malaria medications, the lot. All I had to do was pay the "dash" to Customs and Immigration on arrival at Lagos airport, and the same on departure. ($10 bill inside the passport, to ensure smooth passage)

Attention: sp

I am Barrister Phillip Nelson a Nigeria Immigration Lawyer mandated by ConocoPhillips Oil Company Nigeria Limited, to assist you on the immigration procedures. There are three stages involved in the employment of expatriates in NIGERIA.

1. Request for cable visa
2. Application for subject to regulation visa (STR VISA)
3. Regularizations of stay.

Once the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has approved the request for cable visa, it will be forwarded to the NIGERIAN EMBASSY in your location who will issue you a S.T.R VISA. The regularization of stay is done here in NIGERIA on your arrival.

Firstly before I proceed with the application to the Nigeria Embassy in your location to give you a STR VISA, I have to first of all get you your Expatriate Quota Approval Letter and Cable Visa from the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in Nigeria.

You are to send me the following required documents so that I can make an application for you with the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) for the approval of your Resident/worker's Permit, Cable Visa (which is a per-requisite for STR Visa) and Expatriate Quota.

1. Proof of vaccination against yellow fever.
2. Travelers Expatriate insurance policy certificate (TEIP)
3. A scanned copy of your international passport.
4. Offer Letter from ConocoPhillips Oil Company Nigeria Limited

TRAVELERS EXPATRIATE INSURANCE POLICY (TEIP) COVER is a mandatory requirement by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) this is because the policy is to prove that you are medically fit; to work in Nigeria and also it is a per-requisite to renew your resident/worker's permit every year.

The TEIP should have benefits to the tune of $9,000,000.00(NINE MILLION US DOLLARS) and the duration is one year, it should include benefits for loss of luggage, repatriations, medical, permanent disability and death etc

The preferred insurance company by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) is NIGER INSURANCE COMPANY.NIGER INSURANCE COMPANY is a Nigerian government owned insurance company located in Nigeria, so you are to look for their agent in your location.

After you have applied for the TEIP policy, you will be issued a certificate. You are to send me a copy of the certificate Issued via electronically as attachment.

Attached is the Nigerian Immigration Services form, you are to go through it carefully before filling it properly.

On confirmation from the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) for of the approval of your cable visa, expatriate quota resident/worker's permit, it will be forwarded to the Nigerian Embassy in your location you will be invited from the Nigerian Embassy in your location for a brief interview for your S.T.R visa.

The form attached is in PDF format, which means you need adobe acrobat to open it.

These are the vital procedures which you must adhere to because it is in accordance to the" Expatriate Statutory Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria".

Call me if you have any question +234 8039300889
