Marine Medical

Post by tintean »

Had a heart attack 3 years ago. Have been cleared to work by Cardiologist, personal physician and passed a TC Medical in July 2013. 3 months ago my medical was lifted and replaced with limitations. basically I'm about to lose my job because a nurse in Ottawa seems to think he knows more than 3 Doctors. Is there anyway to appeal this and to whom. Any help with addresses (Email or postal) or phone numbers would be greatly appreciated.

I know its a big problem in the states, and they have a clear appeal process, not sure about Canada. Have you tried contacting Marine Safety in Ottawa for instructions on this. Would be very frustrating.

Naim Nazha, Executive Director, Marine Personnel Standards, Pilotage and Medicine at Transport Canada, is the boss of your particular area, try him at [email protected]

The procedure of appealing your medical status is outlined in Division 8 of the Crewing Regulations of the Canada Shipping Act
Division 8 outlines your responsibilities in the appeal process along with your employer or anyone you select to represent you in the appeal process such as a union representative or a lawyer.
