CoC as per STCW 2010 Manila Convention

Postby xheadsailor » Mon Apr 10, 2017 9:42 pm

I got my First Class CoC renewed last year and was issued a CoC as per STCW 1978 "as amended" (a laminated sheet with a stamp/seal); this is even though I completed the MED refreshers and MAFA. Is this CoC as per the STCW 2010 Manila Convention? Transport Canada is not able to give me a satisfactory response.

Has anyone got a CoC compliant with the STCW 2010 regulations?

Thanks.

You got it after you did your courses, and it says expires ~2021-ish? And says unlimited on there...
I think you should be in the clear.

"As amended" covers 2010 STCW amendments. If it says that, you can get a real job, go foreign as Chief on a real ship!

What makes foreign a real job?
Haha I get your tone, but I'm curious what would make that more appealing?

JJ thinks coastal jobs don't make a real mariner. LOL
I liked my little coastal jobs.

Never liked mud puddles and inshore stuff. I get agitated when land appears on the radar at extreme range, getting too close for comfort!
