Arrogance of Transport Canada...

Post by marineprojectgroup »

Been having a great deal of trouble with Transport Canada to renew my License.
The TC office here in Nanaimo they were good at advising what was required, there were no problems of any kind with them and have done all the courses they said were needed.

Next step is to go through Victoria to actually obtain the renewed license. But have been ignored these 3 months...

Have gone through the list:
Iulian Timpau Senior Marine Inspector at Transport Canada (victoria). No response.
George Ianiev at Transport Canada. No repsonse.
Richard Garber Executive Director, Marine Personnel Standards at Transport Canada. No response.
Marc Garneau MP and Minister of Transportation. No response.
I even tried my local MP for Nanaimo Shelia Malcolmson who is a feminist and an ardent M-103 supporter. No response.

Has anyone else encountered this blatant "screw you" attitude from Transport Canada ? This poor attitude has always been present from TC but now it appears to have gotten completely out of control.

If it is just me then best I work on my brown nosing skills such to sufficiently stroke their grossly inflated ego...

No response? Are you able to walk into the office and speak with them face to face? Go tell them what's what!

Of late my impression of TC has been of a totally disorganized body. They seem completely overwhelm by simple issuance of paper. The two ladies in Victoria are ok to deal with, the front desk staff in Victoria - its been many, many years since Ive actually spoken to a real inspector, to the point I am not sure if they even exist anymore apart from Jolly Jack.

Unfortunately, the powers that be, have left the few front office staff with a pile of shit to deal with, with and fewer people. I have phone HQ and complained one time when things got really ridiculous, that did work for me. But the real problem I understand is that they have have a huge bureaucracy with so few people with any mariner background at HQ, which has consolidated all the power from the regional centers, so it does not bode well for our very specialized set of circumstance as seafarers and regulators.

Well, it depends on their staff, some people are really nice with their customers and sometimes you face extremely arrogant people. Its better to walk into the office and speak with the authorities regarding your issue.
