The non-profit The Maritime Alliance is the cluster organizer for the San Diego maritime technology community and fosters maritime business and technology innovation through collaboration around the U.S. and the world. With the presence of top-notch research institutions, large concentration of military (Navy and Marines) and affiliated labs, a major port and traditional maritime industry, and major cluster of marine technology companies, San Diego is recognized today as one of the leading maritime technology centers in the world.
The two day Summit with concurrent Exposition is organized around two themes. Day One is titled “Ocean Science and Business.” Panels will address topics such as:
• Farming the sea for commercial opportunities, including aquaculture and biomedicines
• Visualization, mapping and tracking technologies
• Innovations in boat and shipbuilding
• Ocean Energy
• Desalination, filtration and purity testing
Day Two is titled “Maritime Domain Awareness – Security, Logistics & Technology.” Panels include:
• Ocean observation (coordinated with & moderated by NOAA Office of National Marine Sanctuaries)
• Maritime transportation logistics and security
• Port and maritime security
• Very large floating platforms (VLFPs – a dialog among potential diverse users)
• Maritime robotics

The Conference and Exposition is an excellent opportunity for small to medium-sized companies to network with decision-makers representing academia, government, and military as well as to meet potential channel, strategic & technology partners among attendees, exhibitors and speakers. For large companies, it is an opportunity to meet companies from around the U.S. and the world showing innovative technologies that need channel and strategic partners to be successful with large opportunities.
Maritime missions are expected from a number of countries. There will be group briefings on Monday, Nov. 15 and one-on-one matchmaking meetings on Nov. 18-19 for a fee for companies interested in maximizing their experience in the San Diego maritime eco-system.
