The April Branch Meeting will take place Thursday, April 18th, 2013 AT 7pm, in the Lower Lounge of the Officer's Wardroom, at the Canadian Navy Base in Esquimalt.

You don't have to be on the bridge of a vessel at the time of an accident causing injury or death in order to be charged with dangerous or criminally negligent operation of a vessel. Darren Williams, marine lawyer, will discuss a variety of examples where engineers have been charged or convicted of offenses under the Canada Shipping Act as well as the Canada Criminal Code, and other cases where they have simply been found negligent, in relation to an accident.

Engineers will also receive practical advice on what to say, or not say, when authorities approach them after a marine incident.

Guests and spouses are always welcome. Members, please bring a friend or colleague.
