2008 May - Maritime Week Americas, Miami

Post by The Dieselduck »

2008 May 19-23 - Maritime Week Americas
VENUE: Ritz-Carlton Hotel, South Beach, Miami, Florida, USA

You are invited to join the inaugural Maritime Week Americas, a week-long carnival of events featuring a wide range of conferences, seminars and high-level workshops.

Organised by Petrospot, this first Maritime Week Americas will concentrate on marine fuels. This is the key area of the global maritime business where change is happening so fast that up to date information - provided by the recognised experts - has become not only important but also imperative.

Maritime Week Americas will draw together the many disparate strands of the bunker industry, locally, regionally and globally, to create a genuine maritime community to learn, share information and - importantly - to network. The event will take place at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, right on South Beach, Miami, at the heart of his exhilarating city, and will include a number of spectacular networking events as well as a substantial exhibition, an internet cafe and plenty of opportunities to meet the experts and to do business.

A variety of conference streams, seminars, workshops and training courses will address the big issues in the bunker industry, covering environmental, commercial, operational, legal and technical issues, with air emissions, oil spills, credit risk, blending and electronic billing all attracting their own specialist audiences. But bunkering operations, from health and safety, to barging and delivery, to sampling and testing and meeting MARPOL and other regulations, will also attract significant attention.

During the week in Miami, a series of specialist workshops will be offered, including: Fuel Oil Blending - Maximising Value; Air Emissions - Dealing with a New Environment; On-Line Bunker Purchasing, and a high-level two-day marine credit risk assessment course. A two-day Advanced Bunkering Course will cover in depth the technical, practical and legal issues of bunkering, while one-day bunkering courses will be offered in English and Spanish.
