2016 Jan - CIMarE VIB monthly presentation

Post by The Dieselduck »

The January Branch Meeting will take place Thursday January 21 at 7PM in the lower lounge of the Naden Naval Officers’ Wardroom near the dockyard entrance.

The presenter will be Howard McElderry from Archipelago Marine Research Ltd., headquartered in Victoria B.C. Archipelago provides marine environmental consulting and fisheries monitoring products and services. Based on decades of experience employing both human observers (at sea-and dockside) and monitoring technology, Archipelago helps fisheries and industry regulators to account for all catch, minimize waste, and encourage selective fishing practices. This month's presentation will explore the CCTV-based technology that Archipelago uses to monitor commercial fisheries around the world. Check out their website at http://www.archipelago.ca/

Members often arrive early to share a beverage with colleagues in the upper lounge. Guests and spouses are always welcome.
