The May Branch Meeting will take place Thursday May 19 at 7PM in the lower lounge of the Naden Naval Officers’ Wardroom near the dockyard entrance.

The presenter will be Kevin Andersen, University of Victoria Engineering Department Graduate Student. Hybridized and all electric ships are becoming increasingly popular in marine applications that exhibit large load variations while in normal service. With the increased complexity of implementing these advanced architectures comes the need to develop more sophisticated and integrated design tools. Much of the risk in adopting new technologies can be mitigated through extensive simulation in the design phase. This presentation will showcase some of UVic's research in developing a model based propulsion design tool and illustrate its application through a case study of electric conversion for BC Ferries' M.V. Klitsa.

Members often arrive early to share a beverage with colleagues in the upper lounge. Guests and spouses are always welcome.
