The annual pre-summer branch social for members and guests will take place Thursday June 16 in the Upper Lounge starting at 5:30PM. As usuaul there will be a selection of canapes and appetizer style food items and of course there will be a bartender on duty. There will also be a short Annual General Meeting and a presentation that will be of interest to everyone in attendance. Details of the presentation are below.

Greater Victoria Harbour Authority’s vision is a harbour where people live, learn, work and play; a spectacular gateway into Victoria’s past and into its future, monumental in look and feel, linking communities and all people together. Ian Robertson, CEO of GVHA will present a review of key recent activities and an update on the exciting developments coming in 2016 with a focus on the Ogden Point Master Plan. This will include ideas and concepts on the layout of the terminal, infrastructure, and commercial integration into the James Bay community area.

MariTech is an annual event for the Canadian Institute of Marine Engineering (CIMarE). It is held every year, by one of the 7 branches across Canada - this year's was held in Niagara Falls. Check the website for updates https://cimare.ca/mari-tech-conferences/

The social event referred to in this post, is one of the many CIMarE Vancouver Island Branch events held throughout the year. Most are technical meetings - learning opportunities, but we have a couple of socials as well, usually one in the summer and one at Christmas. The VIB of the CIMarE is one of seven branches across Canada, whom operate in similar fashion. You are welcome to join the nearest branch.
