2017 March - VIB CIMarE, SNAME, APEGBC events in Victoria

Post by The Dieselduck »

We have two excellent venues for technical meetings and interactions this month.

On Saturday, 25 March, we're working with SNAME to convene a joint meeting, similar to the one held about 4 years ago at I.O.S. Planning for this was well underway when we learned that the I.O.S. venue is not available. Stand by for a further announcement on this meeting-------one will be sent out as soon as we have a location confirmed. The meeting will be structured around four papers and a "lunch and learn" format, will run from 0930 to about 1530. Those of us who remember the last joint meeting can attest to its value from both a knowledge and peer interaction standpoint.

The other significant meeting is one of APEGBC's rare marine-oriented dinner meetings. It will feature the new president of BC Ferry Services, Mark Collins. Details on how to register for this are below. The meeting should be, like the joint meeting with SNAME above, a fine opportunity to broaden our awareness of significant activity in one of the major marine corporations in British Columbia.

Sincerely,
Bill Wallace, Communications, VI Branch

Dinner Presentation: "BC Ferries Fleet Master Plan" and Talbot Award
Date: Wednesday, March 29, 2017
Location: University Club, University of Victoria
Time: 6:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Join us for a dinner presentation at the prestigious University Club. Our guest speaker will be Mr. Mark Collins, President of BC Ferries who will give a presentation on "BC Ferries Fleet Master Plan". In addition, the Talbot family will present the The Talbot Memorial Fund Award to this year's winner.
Last year APEGBC and CIMarE had a very successful dinner meeting, at one of the few marine oriented events that APEGBC has ever had. We intend to repeat the event this year and again invite SNAME, CIMarE, NI and Company of Master Mariner members to attend.

The event needs to be booked through the APEGBC website (https://www.apeg.bc.ca/Events)
