For those of you needing some mandated training or perhaps looking to upgrade,Western Maritime Institute, located on Vancouver Island, near the Nanaimo Regional Airport has some brand new training facilities, like a tank for lifeboat / liferaft training and a fire fighting mock up among others.
The course offerings are right now primarily geared towards the safety (MEDS and First Aid) and Deck / Nautical courses, but look in the near future for engineering related courses. Attached you will find their course and fee schedule. The facilities are located in a rural, but accessible setting, right on Vancouver Island, were parking is ample and free, and housing cost are lower.
