Air Receiver

Hello all,

I decided to create a new topic as it is different to the one I made yesterday (although it is part of the same project), so please feel free to merge the two together if required.

I am trying to source an air receiver, as part of an air start system, to be used in conjunction with a MAN B&W 5s50MC engine.

However, I cannot find an air receiver to satisfy the following requirements:

Capacity: 4.5 cubic meters
Working Pressure: 30 bar (gauge)
Delivery: approx 10.82 cubic meters per second

After almost an entire day of searching, I have reached the conclusion that such an air receiver would not be classed as "standard" and would have to be custom made.

If anybody has an alternative view or could point me in the right direction I would be over the moon.

Many thanks in advance,

Steve

Have a look at http://www.sperre.com/index.php?page_id=2549, and http://www.nk-air.de/en/products/nk-pre ... ivers.html, they seem to have some stuff of interest to your topic.

There is also this that I found... on http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/compr ... d_846.html

The receiver volume may be calculated with the formula

t = V (p1 - p2) / C pa (1)

where

V = volume of the receiver tank (cu ft)

t = time for the receiver to go from upper to lower pressure limits (min)

C = free air needed (scfm)

pa= atmosphere pressure (14.7 psia)

p1 = maximum tank pressure (psia)

p2 = minimum tank pressure (psia)
