BCIT and MAN engine featured in BC Shipping News

Great to see MAN gifted engine to BCIT featured in BC Shipping News magazine

BC Shipping News did an article in the June issue highlighting BCIT's new Motive Power Campus on Anacis Island in Vancouver, featuring the massive MAN 8,400 hp engine on display there. I haven't see the finish product yet, but I did have a tour with Russel Oye some time back, and wow, what a facility!

Lots of footwork was done by MAN, by Kamen in Toronto, Riseley in Victoria, and Russel at BCIT in Vancouver, not to mention all the rest of the team that made it happen, really a great asset for BCIT and MAN Canada and they should be quite proud.

You will find the full article at http://www.bcshippingnews.com/magazine/ ... experience, or attached below.

I had a small part in the project and I am happy to see it come through; I blogged about the project last year.

"The fully operational medium speed Diesel engine; an inline 7 cylinder, 48/60 series, with common rail fuel injection, weighs in at 119 tons and puts out 8,400 kW. The 48/60 series of engines is the second largest series of the MAN medium speed portfolio, and this particular engine was recently donated to BCIT, by MAN Turbo and Diesel Canada, a value of 1.3 million dollars."
