What exactly are we looking at? I have changed my mind 3 times about what this is.

They are the oil feed lines to the top crank main bearings on a Fairbanks Morse engine (bearing cap side). The flange is held to the cap with 2 bolts, if the bolts are not brought down evenly or the spigot on the flange face is not lined up properly or forced into the groove in the bearing cap during assembly the flange will crack like shown when it's tightened(or overtightened).

I knew I had seen it before, just couldn't grab the slippery memory...I have very minimal FM time. I am glad, in this case, it wasn't old-timers making me forget.
How about posting some more FM pictures. A lot of people will never have worked on the darlings.
