Bollard Pull Calculator Barges (Excel Engine)

Post by thenavalarch »

Hi

http://www.thenavalarch.com is an endeavor by a group of freelance Naval Architects and Marine Engineers to make available more resources online for the Marine and Oil and Gas industries.

The following applications are now available on the website:

1. Barge Bollard Pull Calculator (Excel)

An excel sheet developed by http://www.thenavalarch.com for calculating the Bollard Pull required to tow a Barge (for Open Ocean tows only) .

See youtube video:

Features:
Very useful in Marine Operations
Gives 4 different methods to calculate the required Bollard Pull: DNV, OPL, BV and Empirical method.

2. Cargo Forces and Accelerations (Excel)

It is a spreadsheet to calculate the forces and accelerations on a Cargo onboard a vessel (for Open Ocean tows only)

A youtube video demo is here:

Very useful in Marine Operations. These forces and accelerations can further be used to design the seafastening for the cargo.

It calculates both Motion Forces and the Wind Loads

The Motion Forces are calculated in accordance with Nobledenton Guidelines for Marine Operations, Rev 5 (June 2013).

The Wind Loads are calculated as per ABS MODU Rules, 2011. Different Height coefficients are applied to different zones of the cargo depending on its height.

Best regards
