TUFNELL BUSHES

Turned hundreds of these and fitted over 5 years but what were they for and where did they fit?

Ha, seeing your time run you may well know the answer here, no two start acme thread here but uni rotation bushes which live half in the water and half out. Haven't turned any since apprenticeship done?

There must be someone out there with enough hours run on their hour meter who can suss the Tufnell Bush scenario? Again, like the carbide lamps one of, very distinctive smell when machining never smelt it since but can still smell it now.
