What's your fuel density/temp/cSt?

And also, are any of your water supply valves leading?

Oh, I assumed it may have been HFO.
Anyway, reel it back a lil
It shuts off on water overflow alarm...
Is it overflowing water or fuel or is t actually overflowing anything at all?

Hi Big Pete,

At first I am sorry for very late reply.
You got the real picture. We recollect the fuel oil same way you described. We do all the changeovers by manual valve and diaphragm pumps.
Our LO purifiers are working excellent. We faced the problem for only HFO purifiers.

No, shortening de sludge interval not solving the problem. Other way our HFO quality is good, sludge product rate is less. So there in no point to shorten the de sludge interval.

Thanks.

If the sludge production has increased suddenly: -
1) Has the quality of the fuel changed? i.e. have you started using a new batch of Bunkers, or maybe your new Bunkers are not compatible with the previous Bunkers and the reaction between them is creating this sludge.
2) Is the purifier actually discharging Sludge or is it discharging water or clean oil all through the sludge discharge?
3) is the Purifier running at the correct speed? or are the clutch pads/drive belts slipping, causing oil to discharge out of the sludge discharge.
If your purifier has a Gravity disc, is it the correct size for the density of the oil your are purifying?
4) Is the Purifier running at the correct temperature, 98C for HFO 95C for 4 stroke engine Lube, 90C for slow speed 2 stroke engine Lube.

Good luck and report back.

Helo,
I am working as 4e and have GEA Westfalia OSD 06 purifier onboard my ship.
When I took over the purifer, it was under maintenance, pivot bearing damaged due to axial vibration.
Never got the info regarding the cause of this.
After I received the spare and reassembled and test run, the purifier was overflowing through water discharge port.
Tried replacing gravity discs, and reassemble plenty but still the same situation.
Then at last I monitored the solenoid valves for different types of water supply to the purifier.
I found the same solenoid valve is opening during displacement water time but not during filling water time.

Tried to check timer settings( settings same with sister vessel LO purifier), checked on electrical wire connection loose but also okay.

After putting on start procedure , after the bowl desludging procedure is finished , if i open the filling water solenoid manually for 4 to 5 sec there is no overflow.
What I concluded, bowl desludging procedure setting are working fine but not the starting procedure settings.

Please help me how to make solenoid work during filling time.

Now I am running purifier and every hour do manual desludging and starting , manually opening the filling water
