Heat exchanger fouling

We have successfully installed devices on board two well known cruise ships that have almost totally eliminated bio-fouling within their engine heat exchangers. Requiring no attention by the crew, other than a simple 5 minute cartridge change once a month, the device eliminated the need for back flushing. Previously back flushing weekly, after 24 weeks of no back flush, when opened for examination, there was only one bio-foul point!
The system installs simply and infuses a few minutes each hour low dose iodine vapor as bubbles which doesn't allow for the formation of bio-foul. It also does not impart excessive biocides to the water stream and can improve a fouled exchanger in an emergency. Having undergone numerous studies by the US Navy, it reduced hard hull fouling by more than 75% and increased the time between heat exchanger cleaning by 300%. Is there interest in hearing more about this?

So does impressed current systems, old technology.

Hi J.J., I thought impressed current systems were for preventing Electrolytic corrosion?
Been celebrating Xmas too hard?
There are another electrical system that releases Chlorine from the Sea Water to treat fouling and of course the various Chemical Biocide injection systems. Also, I have heard of systems that inject Chemicals to coat the pipe/ cooler surfaces to make them "non stick".
Happy New Year everyone?
