MAN B&W S42MC engine manual says to calibrate main bearing measuring tool before use. I want to know how to do calibration. I have tool onboard but there is no information regarding calibration.

The measuring tool appears to be a standard depth gauge, so the usual way to test it would be to put it inside a standard test piece, supplied with the gauge, it might just be a length of pipe closed at one end, and I would expect it to read "zero" when fully inserted.
I don't have any personal experience of this system though, so I may be wrong.

Go or no go gauges we used to call them.
Precision ground tool steel or similar.
Same as precision ground tool steel used for checking micrometers and verniers etc.,
should be one in the kit, without it not much point in performing the test.
Need to be zeroed before taking any run out measurements.
Should be in with the clock gauge box.
