SW in Diesel Tanks

Post by Matthias »

This might be a no-brainer, but I might as well ask. How well does a centrifugal seperator cope with removing salt from diesel fuel? Are the salts and minerals found in in sea water denser than the diesel therefore being easily removed during seperation or will some of the salts remain dissolbed in the diesel?

Hi Marine Engineers out there!
First & foremost, pls find the source of contamination of salt water in diesel. Prevention is better than cure.
No matter how efficient the centrifuging separation is, the culprit is still inside there causing havoc to the purifier & engine.
Remember the separation process is only supplementary to our whole operational system.Eliminate the source- salt water.
Do not depend entirely on the purifiers because there are other factors invovled in the separation process.
Pls conduct good engineering practice, so that you can sleep better.
