Capt Brian Brooks
I have just received sad news this evening.

Brian Brooks has passed suddenly. Most of you regulars here, might know Brian through his work on the Small Vessel Machinery Operator certificate, featured in The Common Rail forum (http://www.dieselduck.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=887). Brian developed the course material for the SVMO program, and was successful in getting it approved by Transport Canada. He was the SVMO (among other courses) instructor at the at Hamilton Waterfront Trust, in Hamilton, Ontario. It is now offered in BC as well, through Western Maritime Institute. He was passionate about the project, and put in lots of work into it.

He was an active member of our small community, here, online, and off too. He was also the captain of the Waterfront Trust's harbour cruise vessel in Hamilton, Ontario, sharing the sight of this busy industrial harbour.

I extend our warmest thanks, for all his work toward making marine engineering more accessible, and our sincerest condolences to his surviving wife, Deborah, and their family. RIP.

That is shocking, he worked very hard on the SVMO course and was passionate about ensuring it was the best product possible.
My sympathy to his family.
