IAN SMART - (1937 2007) Ian passed away unexpectedly, with grace and dignity in his wife Janet's arms on August 13th, aged 69.

Beloved father of Jamie, Andrew and Lindsey; grandfather of Matilda, Tallulah and Mhairi; he is survived by his wife, his dog Bobby and his brothers Jimmy, Robert and Norman. He is fondly remembered by his ex-wife Margaret, step children and grandchildren, Robert, Elora, Rachel and Holly.

Born in Glasgow, he apprenticed as a marine engineer and sailed around the world with the Royal Mail Lines, settling in BC in 1968. His professional roles included entrepreneur, expert witness, surveyor, consultant, writer and publisher. Ian loved walking Bobby at Macaulay Point Park, riding horses, skiing, and playing golf.

The gap he will leave in our lives is eclipsed only by the size of his heart in our memories. All friends and family will be welcomed at the service, First Memorial, 1155 Fort St., Victoria on Tuesday, August 21st at 2 PM. A reception will follow at the CFB Wardroom, 1586 Esquimalt Road.

In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to Victoria Women's Transition House Society online at http://www.transitionhouse.net This will be greatly appreciated by Ian's family.
