Hey everyone
I am doing my first class mechanics exam soon. I was wondering does anyone know what formula are provided.
Mechanics Formula
Re: Mechanics Formula
Believe it or not, jwinsor, the formula sheet you get for applied mechanics is the same sheet you get for all other exams. Now I know what your first thought is going to be: "This guy is nuts, the sheet only has like four formulas pertaining to applied mechanics, surely Transport Canada doesn't really expect me to learn by heart the fifty formulas I am going to need in the exam!" Well the answer, in a nutshell is "Yes, you have to learn them all." The thinking behind this is that if you understand what you are doing and not just plugging numbers into equations, you can figure out and re-create all the formulas you will need. To save time during the exam, I spent an entire week simply memorizing and remembering how to derive various formulas. As far as I know, its the only way. I know this is not the answer you were hoping to hear but it is reality. Good luck!

Re: Mechanics Formula
The formulae booklet is supplied for the Examinations, as are steam tables and Reeds 4 figure logritham tables, for those without calculators. Caculators, by the way, are permitted in all Examinations. Previously, calculators were not permitted in 3rd Class Mathematics, but that no longer applies.
You can get a copy of the formula book at any Transport Canada Examination Centre, the addresses of which are in TP2293, section 1.8
