"Louis" limps home

The center prop on the Louis pops off the taper when the nut backed off 6". Kudos to the team of divers who managed to get it within 1\8" of where it is suppose to sit, by using the big wrench.

The Louis was on the dock this spring at Halifax Shipyard, I wonder if there is a connection?!

Now why would the nut back off? Right hand thread on a right hand prop? I've seen that before!

From what I have been told, there is a couple of issues going on. I haven't heard anything to why this happened, though I do know she was doing UNCLOS bottom mapping with airguns, in company with the USCG Healy. That work has been going on for several years, though.

A photo of the LSSL in dock from this AM. It's from my Blackberry, so a bit fuzzy.
To the stern of her, at the end of the floating dock, you can see where they are working on the damaged area where the DND ship swung into it causing damages.
