I am in the Bahamas, gas is 1.20 a liter here. Over 60 bucks to fill my tiny tank on my Kia Sephia.

I am in Glasgow and petroleum is $2.13 usd per litre and diesel is $2.22 usd per litre. I have a diesel Mitsubishi Shogun and costs a fortune to fill. 3.2 litre engine gulps it up.

I have just looked on line, 10 gas stations within a 5 mile radius of my ZIP code. Solihull, West Midlands, UK.
Petrol between £1.399 and £1.329 per litre
Diesel between £1.479 and £1.399 per litre
I remember when you could fill your tank for £5.00!!!! and a pint of Beer was 10 pence. Mind you, the wages were just as low so no one was any better off.
I love the way they try to pretend the prices are a bit lower than they are by putting 0.9 pence per litre on the end of the price instead of rounding the price up to a whole penny.

Here in Copenhagen regular petrol is 12.8 DDK ($2.28) per litre and Diesel is 11.50 DKK ($2.04) per litre.

Which doesnt seem as bad as I expected, but there is nearly 200% tax on a new car and almost as much on one imported when moving here.

Cadillac CTS - 2,8 V6 Comfort 215HP - Man. gear Copenhagen 728,850 DKK ($129 550)
Cadillac CTS - 2,8 V6 Comfort 215HP - Man. gear New York 170,280 DKK ($30 265)

But as mentioned by Big Pete everything is usually relative to what people can afford. Here in Denmark the government clearly doesnt want the population driving newer more fuel efficent/environmentally friendly cars.

You can walk or get the S-tag anywhere in Denmark JK :) Love it there, I consider Copenhagen to be the most beautiful seaport in the world (and I've seen most of them!) Everything from the Little Mermaid, to Tivoli Gardens, even the elephant gate at Carsberg brewery (and don't forget the Vin and Olgod beer cellar!) is just entrancing. Barcelona is a close second, but Cobenhavn has it by a nose.

I spent a week on the dock in Aalborg, my memory is how expensive the beer was.
A 2 hour drive was a long journey for residents we meet in that week, they couldn't grasp the size of a country with a 4 hour time difference coast to coast.

Every time I complain about the price of gas someone tells me: "Have you ever compared the price per litre for other liquids, such as wine or even perfume? Cheap wine starts at $10 per litre and you would be hard pressed to find perfume below $100 per litre"
