The last price hike here took it to $1.42 a litre. (that's about $1.52 US or $5.83 a US gallon, $6.93 (US) for an imperial gallon.)

What burns my ass is Government grants to oil companies as "incentive" to drill for oil. As flimsy an excuse as giving Irving a taxpayer's gift of $310 million to "improve the shipyard". I remember Irving got megabucks from Government to improve St John drydock for the CPF programme. Shortly after the last frigate was delivered, the yard was closed down to break the Unions. Irving doesn't need my tax money, they have lots squirreled away in the Bahamas.

Broke my heart when they dynamited the big cranes in Saint John. A fair number of my family made their living at that yard.
The biggest refinery in N America, at Saint John NB, sends 85% of it's output to California where it is sold at a less cost then in Canada. That should say something about the profits being made.

I filled my truck last week from empty, it was $175 and that was regular. If I had used high test it would have been $190.

But do you notice every year when they list the billionaires, how many more there are? The wealth is being concentrated in a few hands who fritter it away on huge super yachts and helicopters to get to them. It is obscene.

JK, you got that right. I was waiting at the North Eleuthera airport when this very large private jet lands. It taxied over where there were about 6 other but very much smaller private jets were parked, and out of this huge plane stepped a middle aged women and her 9 year old son. Thats it, 2 people!!!! Makes my mind whirl on thier audacity of consumption! I worry about my fuel costs in my 18 foot Donzi where I burn 8 gallons an hour of high test gas. Not looking forward to filling that tank when I get home.

Greed rules the world. The economic meltdown was the rampant speculation of the psychopaths on wall street.

To quote CBC's favourite miser, Kevin O'Leary, "It's all about the money, and only the money, all the time."
