Is Canadian passport essential to work in Canada?

Post by goupper90 »

Hello.

I am an landed-immigrant studying marine engineering.

I am just wondering that is there any disadvantage to get a job in Canada with a different country passport?

I am entitled to get Canadian citizenship and passport, so do you think is it much more beneficial to have Canadian passport to work on Canadian water?

Thank you

You can work in Canada as a Landed Immigrant but companies would prefer you had a Canadian Citizenship and Passport especially if the Company regularly trade between Canada and the United States as is done on the Great lakes. Depending on the agreements the US has with the Country that issued your original Passport Homeland Security may deny you access to the US and or force you to clear Immigration every time you enter the US or you could have to obtain a special waver in order to enter the US. All of which could turn into very expensive options for you or the Company
