I just happened to come across this on Youtube. Fascinating watching.
As ship's engineer we work to minimize risk because it is our job and certification on the line. But management is more interested in costs.
There is much in this clip that ties into the modern marine industry that it makes it worthwhile to watch. How equipment is designed, how ships are manned, how risk is managed. The international implications.
A laden tanker is an international football. Today there are ships all over the world that can't tie up or crew change because of perceived risk to one country because of Covid19.
Or did I go one step too far, mentally thinking shipping every time they said Chernobyl?
