The Council of Marine Professional Associates (COMPASS) is a not for profit organization established to promote the Marine Transportation industry and its associated careers. Our mission is, on behalf of our members to promote the development of the marine transportation sector and facilitate the participation of COMPASS members in marine transportation industries.

COMPASS has a strategic plan that involves the implementation of initiatives to address recruitment, retention, training and career promotion for the Marine Transportation industry.

COMPASS has an immediate requirement for a Consultant to provide the services of a Managing Director on a full time contractual basis;

Managing Director

Duties: Reporting to and taking direction from the Board of Directors, you will be responsible for managing the implementation of the COMPASS sector-wide strategic plan and the general affairs of COMPASS. Your responsibilities will include facilitating and chairing committee meetings, coordinating all initiatives and projects, promoting membership, liaising with members, representing COMPASS at industry and stakeholder events, preparing a regular membership newsletter, maintaining the COMPASS website, and other responsibilities as determined by the Board.

Qualifications : You must hold a relevant degree, preferably with a strategic planning, human resource planning, and/or project management focus. You must be familiar with the current information and research available to guide COMPASS in the implementation of its strategies and have an in depth knowledge of the local, national and global HR issues of the industry. Competence and experience facilitating discussions and meetings will be a definite asset. Preference will be given to candidates with significant experience and knowledge of the marine transportation industry and the related HR challenges.

Compensation: The salary range is $60,000 to $75,000 per year and will be dependent on qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
